Governor Moore stood before the legislature and painted a rosy picture of Maryland’s future. Johnny took to the pages of the Star Democrat — in his own words, signed his own name — and answered him directly.

The reality the Governor skipped over isn’t hard to find. It’s in the electric bill that just hit the mailbox in Federalsburg. It’s in the property assessment that landed in a Cambridge mailbox and made the homeowner sit down. It’s in the small business in Easton trying to absorb another payroll cost. The Shore knows what’s happening. It just doesn’t always hear its senator say it out loud.

Johnny did. He spoke directly to Eastern Shore families about the runaway budget, the cost-of-living squeeze, and the steady drumbeat of policies written for Baltimore and the Washington suburbs that don’t work — and often actively hurt — life on the Shore.
